NP #116: Dr’s & Scientists from the Nosara Research Project are inviting ALL area residents to participate in a survey to prepare for July 29th round table event (8 minute short version)

In this Nosara Podcast, Dr. Alvaro Salas-Castro, Dr. Tina Nabatchi, & Dr. Christian Freitag invite ALL Nosara residents to participate in an important survey.

They explain there are 3 phases to this project. Phase 1 is now complete, Phase 2 is this survey (see below links to participate & instructions), and Phase 3 is the July 29th round table event, when all of Nosara’s collected information will be shared.

They are requesting as much participation as possible from all demographics and want people to know their opinions and concerns are included and important. Their goal is to share collective information in a manner promoting unification and dialogue thus providing an opportunity to progress.

NP #96: Nosara Security Association update with President Mariju

This episode is 11 minutes with President Mariju of the Nosara Security Association. Travel is returning to Nosara which means the thieves will as well.

***FYI: Not related to the NSA… There is a scam going around Costa Rica of people impersonating bank representatives with known private information and stealing money. NEVER under any circumstance give information or provide anything over the phone. The hackers are watching people’s computer habits then calling with known personal info. Beware and be careful!

NP #18: February 2019 Nosara Security Association Update: Call To Action On Private Security Throughout Playas de Nosara

All of Central America, including Nosara, has problems with petty theft. The Nosara Security Association is trying to deter and prevent house break in’s as well as all other types of crime we experience. Private Security is the only real solution we have for this.

In this breakdown Rich shows how the Beaches of Nosara could feasibly link up to drastically decrease crime in our community.

We’ve heard every objection and tried loads of different ways… Private Security is THE only method which works 99% of the time.

Your neighborhood should have a WhatsApp group to link into. Send me a message if you need the info.

If you have a location we can utilize security cameras, please let us know.

These new security cameras like Ring are working extremely well and we appreciate the photos of ‘creepers’ and attempted break-ins. We’ve identified several people already with these so thank you.

Main point: If we have private security in each neighborhood we can eliminate most of the crime we experience.

NP #13: One street in Guiones stopped getting robbed… Here’s how they did it.

Nosara has a crime issue.

This is no surprise and is not anything new. In fact, pretty much all of Costa Rica, Latin America and most every tourist town in the world has some sort of crime problem. In the Nosara area our most alarming trend is the house break-ins. They seem to be increasing in frequency and it is downright impressive how the thieves are very seldom caught in the act.

But there is a solution.

Please check out this quick discussion I had with Andrew Saxton to hear for yourself what one street in Guiones did to take action and prevent robberies.

This is about 6 minutes and I’d appreciate if you share it with anyone who owns property in, lives in, or visits Nosara.

Most of our crime is preventable and it is time for the people of Nosara to cooperate and begin to implement these strategies. Please dial into the guidance of the Nosara Security Association and join in the upcoming webinars working to unite all of the areas for strategies like the one in this video. It works and it is time to take action.

NP #7: G Love & Nosara

Here in Nosara we are super fortunate to meet all kinds of amazing people who love our community. Since 1998, G Love has been coming to Nosara and has no plans of stopping anytime soon. In fact, for the previous five years, G Love (Garret Dutton) has been headlining to Nosara Acoustic Roots Festival. Each year we try to have this festival the weekend after Thanksgiving and it seems to be growing. The show is to benefit the Nosara Security Association and is the biggest fundraiser of the year.

I got a chance to sit down with Garrett and talk about Nosara and hear some stories about his friends Jack Johnson, Kelly Slater, Donovan Frankenreiter, Mick Fanning, Joel Parkinson, the Malloy brothers and more. We also had a chance to detail some of his musical influences and motivating factors and life on the road and staying motivated. G shares a story about losing a deal to Beck and much more info you’ll just have to hear in this episode.
