President Kuki from the NCA tells us what was good about 2020, what she is proud of about, status updates on the Refuge, the dump, the building regulations, upcoming meeting & board changes, work shops and more and I ask if NCA can transition into virtual meetings so more people may participate.
Rachael McCrary is co-owner of a laboratory based in the US and she wants to help bring her company’s covid testing kits here to help out Nosara as well as other communities in Costa Rica.
In this episode she explains her goals for her company’s test kits, she recaps her visit to the Nosara community testing event, she shares her thoughts about traveling and being in Nosara and discusses differences between life in an urban area vs. Nosara and she shares her personal story and goals.
Her story is an interesting one and I hope you enjoy hearing how Rachael has transitioned from an enterprising teenager raised on the east coast to an entrepreneurial adult who invents and produces products and ideas and frequently appearing on TV shows such as Shark Tank and others to represent her brands.
In this episode of the Nosara Podcast, Kuki and I enjoy a lively conversation broaching multiple subjects pertaining to Nosara as of today and our future.
We kick off the discussion about the NCA’s trail system and Kuki shares about the idea of making them a main source of mobility. The idea she explains is to have pathways from Bodhi Tree all the way to the river dike pathway.
Next we talk about why the beaches are not reopened in our area but are open elsewhere in the country. At the moment, this is one of the most pressing issues in our community and hopefully our discussion helps people understand where we are at on this subject. Lots of pros and cons and it is an emotional issue for many people.
Further along in the episode we discuss the Plan Regulador, Kuki’s decision to step down as NCA President as of January, the Nosara Food Bank, how Nicoya’s recently elected Mayor believes Nosara can be a model for the world, whether or not Nosara will try again to break away from Nicoya, some election talk about Trump, the move towards national tourism along with several other items.
There is a great deal more we discussed in depth, but we cut this episode down to 45 minutes to help. I hope you enjoy this episode and it helps in some way. Please send in any and all feedback, both good and bad, and know it is appreciated.
If you’re not already aware, the Nosara Civic Association is a massive reason our town is what it is today.
In fact, everyone involved in Nosara owes a massive ‘thank you’ to the warriors who fought for and maintained the parklands interrupting our community. They are the reason the Playas de Nosara is free of large scale development and completely unique amongst most every beach town in the world.
However, many would argue we are currently at a tipping point as Nosara’s popularity is skyrocketing and well heeled buyers are arriving unlike anytime before.
Along with growth comes growing pains; and we are certainly having them.
Ethel Araya (most everyone calls her Kuki) is the current President of the Nosara Civic Association and doing an outstanding job. She recently came by for a conversation and provided a complete update on some of the most pressing matters concerning our community.
