I recently had a great time revisiting Kona Skatepark in Jacksonville, Florida with my son Elisha & longtime friend Jim Caudill. It’s a huge skatepark I visited in my childhood, then later more years in college, now once again almost 30 years later.
Jim introduced me to longboards via a Savage surfboard about 1996 or so shaped by Kenny Briel. Before LB’s, we’d go surfing, or try to anyways, driving 45+ minutes to the beach with shortboards just hoping for any wave to ride. Or we’d call the old Surf Station surf report & listen to Tory Strange tell us if we had good or bad luck… Of course after hearing the specials of the day at Surf Station. Sort of miss certain parts of those days.
